Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra New Guidelines 2024 – The Char Dham of Uttarakhand is known to initiate its Yatra starting May 10, 2024, which remains one of the most-awaited pilgrimage journeys for followers to visit sacred temples like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
To ensure the safety and security of everyone, the government has set up some fundamental rules and regulations which will maintain the law & order in the pilgrimage.
New Guidelines For Pilgrims 2024
Mandatory Registration
Before beginning the journey every person who wants to go for pilgrimage has to register themselves as well as their vehicle which they are planning to take with them.
It is free and without registration, it is not possible to have access to monitoring and security.
Identity Verification
The pilgrims are forced to sign a book to prove their identity at each shrine visited.
Daily Visitor Limits

- Badrinath: 20,000 pilgrims
- Kedarnath: 18,000 pilgrims
- Gangotri: 11,000 pilgrims
- Yamunotri: 9,000 pilgrims
Night Travel Ban
Reduced vehicular traffic is another element controlling the flow and density of pilgrims along the routes at night, especially between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM.
Special Provisions For Uttarakhand Residents
It is well to note that the Uttarakhand people are not required to produce an E-Pass for undertaking a Char Dham Yatra. The people interested in registering themselves can register through their Aadhaar Card number through the Dehradun Smart City Portal.
Minimizing Distractions
There are many travel restrictions on the movement of vehicular traffic in the region and some of them include; passengers are allowed not to play loud music or sing along to songs as they travel on the routes used by pilgrims.
The foregoing guidelines are designed to achieve two objectives, namely, providing the inhabitants spiritual satisfaction and regulating and controlling the occurrence of spiritual satisfaction in ways that restore and maintain order.
