Maharashtra Public Services Commission conducts the examination for recruiting state personnel for various posts. These recruitment exams are conducted every year. Interested students have to give exams as per a set criteria and and after they get selected.
The exams are not easy; they require dedication at different stages. The recruitment process consists of three major steps. These major steps are qualifying MPSC preliminary exam, then qualifying MPSC mains exam, and the ultimate interview taken by commission representatives.

MPSC Prelims Exam
The MPSC prelims exam consists of two compulsory papers:-
- Prelims GS Paper 1 – This paper consists of 100 questions with total marks of 200. The nature of this paper is objective type, and the time duration is 2 hours. There is a deduction of 1/4th marks for every wrong answer.
- Prelims CSAT Paper 2 – This paper consists of 80 questions with a total of 200 marks. This paper pattern is objective type, and the duration given is 2 hours. Students lose 1/4th mark for every wrong answer.

MPSC Mains Exam
The MPSC mains exam consists of 4 compulsory papers, out of which 5 are objective type.
- Mains Marathi & English Paper 1 – The nature of this paper is descriptive, with total marks of 100 and the duration provided is 3 hours. No negative marks in this paper.
- Mains Marathi & English Paper 2 – The nature of this paper is objective with maximum marks of 100 and a duration of 1 hour. There is a negative marking of 1/4th for every wrong attempt.
- Mains GS 1 Paper 3 – This paper consists of MCQs with a total of 150 marks in a duration of 2 hours.1/4th marks are deducted for each wrong attempt.
- Mains GS 2 Paper 4 – Paper type is objective with total marks of 150 in duration of 2 hours. 1/4th marks deduction for wrong attempts.
- Mains GS 3 Paper 5 – Paper type is objective with total marks of 150 in duration of 2 hours. 1/4th marks deduction for every wrong answer.
- Mains GS 4 Paper 6 – Paper type is objective with total marks 150 in duration of 2 hours. 1/4th marks deduction for each wrong attempt.
