SSC, which stands for Secondary School Certificate, is a self-governing statutory body. The board generally calls students up to grade 10 SSC and students up to grade 12 HSC (“Higher School Certificate”).
However, the official SSC Board stands as MSBSHSE Board, which stands for “Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education”. The commission was established in 1965 under the provisions of the Maharashtra State Act 41 and is now 56 years old.
MSBSHSE Board prepares subjects, course materials, and curricula mainly up to the 12th grade and conducts SSC and HSC board exams in the 10th and 12th grades, respectively. These exams are conducted twice every year by nine major councils in Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nashik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur and Ratnagiri.
This is one of the most popular boards in India and around 1.7 million students appear for the SSC exam, and 1.4 million students appear for the HSC exam every year. There are also around 21,000 SSC schools and 7,000 HSC Jr schools. Colleges across the state also joined the board.
Maharashtra State Board supports English and German as well as Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Sindhi, Gujarati, Kannada, Urdu, Pali, Telugu, etc. It offers various courses covering various Indian languages, such as. , French, Russian, Arabic, Persian, etc. Moreover, the Board also offers various courses such as ICT, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Multi-Skill Foundation Course, Health, Automotive Technology, Sports, Tourism, Agriculture, Banking and Finance, Media and other subjects.
What Is The CBSE Model?
CBSE stands for “Central Board of Secondary Education”, the national education board of the Government of India. Founded in 1929, it was the first cooperative state education board of its kind. CBSE board follows the guidelines and curriculum of NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training).
Over the past 92 years, the Board has gone through many changes. The most significant change occurred in 1952 when the Board was renamed to its current name and opened to students nationwide.
CBSE Board of Directors is headquartered in Delhi and is affiliated with approximately 26,000 schools in India and 200 abroad. All Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and all central schools, as well as many private schools, are affiliated to CBSE.

Differences Between SSC And CBSE Boards
SSC and CBSE are quite popular across the country and there are a large number of schools participating in each. However, there are some important differences between the two boards that parents and students should consider before choosing which board they want to study at.
Below are some important differences between SSC and CBSE boards:-

- Another difference between the two boards is the number of topics. Similarly, since CBSE is the central authority, it has many subjects, especially languages, arts, and humanities. SSC, on the other hand, offers courses in various disciplines, including multiple languages.
- Since CBSE is also the board that conducts competitive exams in many countries, the board attaches importance to the preparation of children for these exams. However, SSC focuses on the overall academic experience rather than a specific competition.
